Reflections II.

leave a comment »

Just noticed of late there is still plenty of local and european election posters still up, my my have they started campaigning for the next one already. Anyway isn’t it great that the weather has improved, looking like we are going to have a summer for once.

Listened  to a interview this morning on Limerick 95 Fm vis a v the upcoming local elections and the area covered was the Rathkeale district which is receiving some great coverage. It was the usual talk about the local communities, crime, jobs etc .. (not that anything will be done) and some strange remarks about Foynes from a Seamus Hogan who is standing for labour in the local elections. Sounds like some sort of muck-raking or kite flying of some sort maybe Seamus could clarify for me . Anyway here’s a link to a post on the Local and European elections on Limerick NewsWire. Trust that they don’t object.

France honours Irish General for work in Chad.

Just noticed of late that a Irish General has been given the prestigious pat-nashLegion d’honneur

( or Legion of Honour ) by French President Nicolas Sarkozy in a ceremony in Paris for his command of the european mission to Chad which has now been taken over by United Nations. It’s a order established by Napoleon in 1802 for bravery or merit by either miltary or civilian and you can read more on here

Some Movie Trailers …

leave a comment »

Just decided to put up some movies trailers, of late the postings have got a little scare. I will have a few up in the next few days. Anyway went to see this film “Angels and Demons” last night, though they were some great shots of Rome. I actually didn’t like the film and thought it had satanic overtones and felt it should have a higher rating than certificate 12. Both Tom Hanks and Ewan McGregor star and it’s quiet a lively action picture despite it’s Vatican location.

See what you make of it yourself.

Still waiting from the Minster for Illegal Downloands.

Update :

Last December I asked Mary Hanafin if she would make any comment on a post concerning herself that I had made on my blog ( aka they tried to put some very nasty stuff on my visa and she was the one who thought it up other than that Mary I wouldn’t come near you).

I still have received no response from my email,  I also  rang Ms Hanafin constituency office as well, no-one was available for comment but was informed that they would get back to me. I will be waiting I gather.

They have put relentless pressure on the banks of course to have someone’s details change, I would hear from them I gather.

On the A-H1N1 ” Swine ” flu outbreak.

leave a comment »

This has been in the news lately, especially as it has struck Mexico particularly hard and with little or no warning. It seems to be different to Avian/Bird Flu as it is much more easily spread or transmittable between humans. Despite it being called the ” Swine ” flu there hadn’t been reports of any pigs being infected anywhere before the outbreak. The World Health Organization states as of 2nd May that 18 countries have been infected with 898 cases worldwide, Mexico is by far the worse country effected with 16 reported deaths.  Here are some links of interest, podcasts from the World Health Organization and the Center for Disease Control.
